3rd Annual Team Parkinson Golf Classic

Approximately 70 Golfers from all over Southern California participated in the 3rd Annual Team Parkinson Golf Classic, held once again at the beautiful Friendly Hills Country Club on June 30th, 2008. The Golf Gods blessed us for the 3rd year in a row, as the weather could not have been better.

The top score was a net 59 - 11 under par for the Scramble format.  The 1st place team was comprised of Bob Baumann, Jim Wilczek, Dave Sams, and Mark Komoda.

For the third year in a row, the team that included John Ball, Don Berns, and Dan Kiefer - all of whom have Parkinson's Disease - and John's son David (showing support for Dad) shot a round in the 70s, and John Ball was the winner of the putting contest!

For the 2nd year in a row Cherie Zaun, a former LPGA pro, was the pro on our "Beat the Pro" hole - the difficult par-3 13th.  Only 3 players were able to get inside of Cherie's tee shot all day long.  Players bet 10-$20 and if they got inside of Cherie's shot, they doubled their money.  For the majority of the players who made the wager, their money was gladly donated to the cause.  Cherie has committed to be back again next year.

For the first time we had a car give-away for a hole-in-one.  Dave Tetreault secured a beautiful new Cadillac from Bewley Allen Cadillac in Alhambra for anyone who aced the par-3 8th hole.  A few came close, but nobody walked away with the Caddy.

Post-tournament festivities included two raffles, one for prizes and one for cash (a crowd favorite), a silent auction, and the awards ceremony.  May May Ali thanked the crowd for their support of the disease that has afflicted her father, the Great Muhammad Ali.

John Ball gave a heart-felt, inspirational speech that clearly moved everyone in the audience, and Carol Walton talked about the latest research in Parkinson's disease.

Three special thanks are in order.  First to Bruce Lewis, who once again put on a pre-tournament clinic and secured great prizes from Titleist.  Second, to Justine Lassoff, who coordinated the wonderful Silent Auction and got many fantastic items for bidding. And last but not least to Matthew Chezum, our volunteer photographer, who once again captured the day's activities.

Thanks to all of the tee sign sponsors and all of those who participated. A special thanks to our Silver Sponsor: Wells Fargo. A very big thank you to Andrew Bunnin and Donna Tetreault, the entire Tetreault family and all the volunteers for all their hard work in making this event a success. We look forward to another great event in 2009. Don't miss the 4th Annual Team Parkinson Golf Classic next year!
