Getting to Know Allison Tollins - 09/01/2012

I ran the La Jolla half marathon in loving memory of my father, Robert (Bob) Tolins. My dad was a brilliant man. He graduated from Cornell and went to law school at Boston College. He was a successful attorney until he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease when he was 41 years old. The disease quickly progressed and he was forced to retire. He lived with Parkinson's for almost 20 years before he passed away in March of 2012. He was able to gain some relief from the disease when he had DBS, which was a very recent development at the time. I am thankful for Team Parkinson's and other charitable organizations that are raising money to help science progress further in treatment and ultimately a cure for Parkinson's.

I am happy to have been a part of Team Parkinson's and was able to raise over $3,000 towards helping others like my father, who have suffered from this disorder.
